Memories of Thanksgiving

Growing up on the farm, we raised pigs and chickens, and we had one milk cow. We never had turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving. It was always chicken and dressing. One of my fondest memories of Thanksgiving was in our early years of marriage. I really wanted a turkey for Thanksgiving, but I was a stay at home mom raising two little boys while my husband worked two jobs. We could not afford a turkey for Thanksgiving. A couple of days before Thanksgiving my husband came home from a long day at work. When I opened the door to greet him, to my surprise he held up a LIVE 20 pound turkey by the feet.

As he was driving home from work following a turkey truck, a turkey came flying off the truck and started running down the side of the road. Well, the truck didn't stop, but my husband did and we had our first TURKEY and dressing dinner. Thank you, Lord for the turkey.
