If you are tired of digging through tubs and piles of fabric in your sewing room stash to find the right fabric for your project, it's time to get organized. Here are four fabric storage ideas for organizing your fabrics in your sewing room. #1) BOOKCASES: The easiest and most common method is bookcases. You can paint them any color you like, but I prefer white because white doesn't interfere and take away from the colors of your fabrics. Also bookcases can be used upright for storing folded fabrics, or you can lay the bookcase on it

s side for bolt storage, or a combination of both.

#2) FILE CABINETS:

Vertical and lateral file cabinets make handy fabric organizers. They are kind of expensive at office supply stores, but sometimes you can pick them up at business closings that are selling furniture, or at flea markets. You can also paint file cabinets to fit your color scheme. Use hanging file racks and hanging files to lay your fabrics across. Organize each drawer by color. #3) PLASTIC DRAWERS: If file cabinets are out of your budget, use plastic drawers that you can purchase from Walmart at a less expensive price. Fold fabrics on cardboard for easy storage in the drawers. Filing fabrics in the drawers by color is also helpful for less searching.

#4) FABRIC ORGANIZERS:

My favorite solution is Fabric Organizers.

Fabric Organizers are a great way to store fabric. Store up to 10 yards of fabric without creasing on one organizer. The convenient tabs make it possible to store fabric, strips, and binding for your project all on one organizer. And it fits most bookshelves. storage drawers, and tubs making your fabrics visible and neat. No digging and searching through your stash anymore. Watch next Monday's blog for more sewing room organizer tips.
